Omnibucket History

Oh, so you want the long version?

The story of Omnibucket begins in the summer of 2005. My name is Scott Lambridis and I love brains. Not to eat, mind you, but to study and talk about as a reflection of what makes us humans so damn puzzled with our selves. I’ve tackled this through the various fields throughout my short life though never could really settle on anything. I studied philosophy and religion while getting a degree in Neurobiology. I wrote and played music in a dark and theatrical touring rock group for six years. I drew comic book characters as a kid and do occasional fine art gallery shows. I’m also a wordsmythe, jumping between writing macabre stories and essays about the brain while working professionally in design and multimedia.

Dave Senecal, on the other hand, is the artist I always wished I might be. He likes exploring the relationship between humans and what they invent, using art to examine and document our progress as a species. He also likes brains. That is to say, he likes the idea of zombies eating them. Dave makes impeccably realistic zombie paintings when he’s not showing more abstract and figurative work. Clearly our similarities outweigh our differences, despite the fact that he’s a f*cking Libra.

Omnibucket was born when we ingeniously decided to combine like Voltron to create an art-centric, elegant line of storybooks. We figured we weren’t the only ones who thought that art galleries and children should get all the pretty pictures, and we knew there were others out there who believe that even the simplest of stories should be done with damn fine style.

In a larger sense, Omnibucket was created to be a reflection of myself, just as it is to be a reflection of Dave. It is a way to build a place where I could spend my days with a notebook, thinking, writing, conceptualizing, jumping from medium to medium, and finding others to help make it a reality. Growing Omnibucket means growing a space; one that can adapt to my whims and to the whims of those involved. It is a platform for ideas and, as all platforms require, must first be built with and defined by its content. Then, it must be hung with a signpost that explains what it is and why it is special to those who might be interested.

This initial partnership has now expanded into a large collection of geeks with flavor, slick but soulful creatives – writers, artists, designers and musicians – who believe in the stuff we’re creating and promoting. Our output is definitely unique, maybe a little weird, but always original and of the highest quality. We like to take our time making books and music and pictures and sculptures. Nobody will ever accuse us of cranking out crap.
